Measuring Tips
The following are some tips for measuring for your hardwood flooring. If you have any doubts about how to get a correct measurement, we will be glad to assist you.
Example: 14 x 13 room bay window and closet

| Main room: Multiply length (13 ft) x width (14 ft) to get square footage: |
182
| Bay window: Treat the bay window as if it were rectangular: 13 x 2: |
26
| Closet: 7 x 2: |
14
| Total (before waste): |
222
| Allow 5% waste factor: |
11
| Total square feet needed: |
233
If your room measures 14 1/2 ft x 13 1/4 ft, always round up to 15 ft x 14 ft.
It's better to have wood left over than to have to delay your project because of a shortage.
